The Tech Museum of Innovation

San Jose, California

This technology and science museum was developed to draw residents and visitors to downtown San Jose. The 132,000 SF museum is divided among themed galleries that focus on innovation, the Internet, the human body, and exploration. A 299-seat domed IMAX theater is the architectural and programmatic center of the facility and is served by an adjacent cafe, gift shop, and large public lobby/atrium. The lobby space features exhibit space, both stationary and suspended from the ceiling. The building also contains a variety of public meeting rooms and staff offices.

As Executive Architect on the project, Steinberg worked closely with Design Architect Legorreta Legorreta. Steinberg has continued to provide ongoing architectural services for the museum.
