San Jose Evergreen Community College District Celebrates its Extension at Milpitas with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The San Jose Evergreen Community Extension at Milpitas will be celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the SJECCD Board of Trustees and Milpitas Unified School District Board of Education, SJECCD Chancellor Debbie Budd, MUSD Interim Superintendent Cheryl Jordan, SJCC President Byron Breland, and EVC President Henry Yong.

The SJECCD and MUSD Joint-Use 21st Century Post-Secondary Education Center is now making college courses available to residents of Milpitas and surrounding areas. Steinberg designed the new 15,000 SF facility in collaboration with McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. The project is sited on approximately three (3) acres of land previously used as athletic fields. The building program includes smart classrooms, a lecture room, laboratories (one wet, one dry), collaboration space – “The Hub”, meeting rooms and shared office space. The joint community college extension’s purpose is to create a facility that will meet the future needs of community college students and eligible high school students in a unique setting, to foster a college-going culture at Milpitas High School by providing education opportunities and to provide curricular opportunities for adult students in and around the Milpitas area.
