Steinberg Sponsors the 2016 YWCA Annual Silicon Valley Inspire Luncheon
Last week, Steinberg was among over 1,200 guests who attended the 26th Annual YWCA Silicon Valley Inspire Luncheon to learn about YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women. As Table Captain for the past 10 years, Steinberg Senior Associate Mani A. Farhadi encouraged community colleagues to join her in support of the event, which raised over $300,000 in donations.
Journalist, writer, and activist Laura Ling delivered the keynote address, recounting the story of her capture, in 2009, by North Korean border guards. Charged with illegal entry into North Korea, she spent 140 days in captivity prior to being released. Laura’s story was inspiring, as were the stories of the YWCA award recipients, each of whom overcame unique obstacles.
Following the event, Mani noted that hearing these stories of courage and perseverance helped put her professional life in perspective.
