University of La Verne Commemorates Ground Breaking of New Residence & Dining Hall
Steinberg has been working with the University of La Verne for the past year on two exciting new projects on campus. The team was thrilled to participate in the University’s 125th anniversary celebration last night, which included a night of fun and games to honor Founders Day. The event kicked off with a momentous occasion- a ground breaking ceremony for the new Residence and Dining Hall, delivered by the design-build team of Bernards/Steinberg.
The new 116,000 square-foot residence building will include 398 beds, a dining hall, lounge and study spaces, and outdoor patios. The ground floor will feature a dynamic 16,000 square-foot dining hall, President’s dining room, and large social and recreation lounge. The residence floors feature living clusters that are focused on community integration and learning. Study rooms, social lounges, and a 2-story living room at the heart of each floor create a fabric that links students together to learn, live and thrive.
Located thirty miles from downtown LA, the University of La Verne promotes life-long learning based on core values of diversity, inclusivity and community engagement. The new student housing and dining hall complex, designed by Steinberg, will be the first in the university’s newly-approved Facilities & Technology Master Plan. Scheduled to be completed in August 2018, the new building will enclose the Student Life Quad and Plaza, helping to achieve their vision of creating campus coherence and promoting student, faculty and staff interaction.
