NMS La Jolla Tower wins the PCBC Grand Award for Best On-the-Boards Mixed Use Project!

NMS La Jolla Tower wins the PCBC Grand Award for Best On-the-Boards Mixed Use Project!

Judges’ Statement: “With the number of mixed-use multifamily buildings going up in Los Angeles, it can be hard to stand out, but clever use of irregular, angular balconies and projecting windows set this mixed-use building on Wilshire Boulevard apart. The designers deployed these strategies across curved facades to ensure a unique experience in each of the 90 residential units, and to add visual interest to the streetscape, which is also enlivened by retail at the base. It will be an exciting project to see realized.”

The 15-story mixed-use Type I residential and retail building consists of 90 luxury apartment units, 5,100 SF of retail, four levels of above-grade parking, and resident amenities on the skydeck and podium levels. Situated south of the Hollywood Hills and just east of Beverly Hills, the new high-rise residential tower, at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and La Jolla, offers an opportunity to create a new lens in the spirit of Los Angeles. The design of the tower reflects the concept of a lens in its building form and undulating facade. The convex profile allows for easier occupant access to view corridors between the taller buildings along Wilshire Boulevard, opening up the city to the residents. By allowing the building edge to become a malleable element, the project continuously reframes one’s relationship to the city.
